Peter Kees arbeitet als Chronist und Vermesser gesellschaftlicher und menschlicher Phänomene. Seine Arbeit thematisiert Momente kollektiver wie subjektiver Grenzerfahrung, die er konzeptionell wie formal-ästhetisch in sein Werk einbindet.

Peter Kees arbeitet mit verschiedenen Medien, von Intervention und Performance über Video und Fotografie. Im weitesten Sinn stellt seine Arbeit Fragen nach dem So-Sein, aber auch nach Sehnsüchten, Visionen und Idealen. Die Werke sind zugleich als eine "menschlich-gesellschaftliche" Hinterfragung zu verstehen.

Seit 2006 ist S.E. Peter Kees Botschafter Arkadiens.

Bisher waren seine Arbeiten u.a. auf der Mediations Biennale in Posen (Polen), auf der Havanna Biennale (Kuba), im Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje (Mazedonien), in La Capella Barcelona (Spanien), im PAN Palazzo delle Arti Napoli (Italien), in der Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, im Berliner Martin-Gropius-Bau, am Kunsthaus Bregenz (Österreich), an der Kunsthalle Rostock und am ACC Weimar zu sehen.

Peter Kees is a chronicler and surveyor of contemporary social phenomena. His focus is the exploration of the boundaries and constraints - whether natural or socially determined - which shape human experience. His work is conceptually rooted, however is characterised by aesthetic-formal concerns.

Kees works in several media, from public interventions and performance, to video and photography. While in general the focus is a questioning of the status quo, of the-way-it-is, his work frequently explores the implicit alternatives – human desires, ideals and utopias.

In 2006 Peter Kees founded the Embassy of Arcadia.

His works have been exhibited at inter alia: Mediations Bienal Poznan (Poland), Havanna Bienal (Kuba), Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje (Macedonia), La Capella Barcelona (Spain), PAN Palazzo delle Arti Napoli (Italy), Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin, Martin-Gropius-Bau Berlin, Kunsthaus Bregenz (Austria), Kunstgalle Rostock, ACC Weimar.
