Das Ungenügen
an der Welt schafft Sehnsucht nach einem besseren Sein.
2006 eröffnete
Peter Kees die Botschaft Arkadiens. Glücklosen, Sinnsuchern, Utopisten, Flüchtlingen,
Schutzsuchenden, Träumern, Hilfesuchende und eiskalten Realisten wird Asyl
gewährt. Lebenslustige erhalten Visa.
Arkadien als
poetischer Gegenentwurf zur überfeinerten und verderbten Zivilisation
entspricht dem Traum vom elementaren Glück: Einheit mit der Natur, Einklang mit
der Welt sowie die Erinnerung an den verlorenen Stand der Unschuld - Muße,
Frieden und Liebe. Dieses Wunschbild als Utopie bleibt Illusion, ist jedoch
zugleich treibende Kraft, nicht ausschließlich den Niederungen des Existenzkampfes
ausgesetzt zu sein.
Ist Arkadien in einer post-utopischen
Welt noch möglich?
Dissatisfaction
with our world arouses our desire for a better life.
In 2006 Peter Kees founded the Embassy of Arcadia. The Embassy offers an
asylum to the exiles and shipwrecked in life: to losers, to visionaries, to
utopians and dreamers, to the innocent and to cold-blooded cynics. To the
joyful and happy, visas are issued.
Arcadia originated as an artistic response to a decadent and degenerate
society, offering the dream of natural happiness: unity with nature, as well as
promises of a lost innocent time in which peace, love and freedom from toil
reigned. The arcadian ideal remains of course an illusion. However it has lost
none of its power as a symbol of escape from the exigencies of life.
In a
post-utopian world, is Arcadia still conceivable?
